Beverly Hills family portraits by Graham and Graham

Beverly Hills, and a little patch of green on little Santa Monica Blvd. was the locale of choice for our family shoot here, and what a nice patch of green it is! The family isn't too bad either.
They got comfortable for us in the mini-park for our Beverly Hills family portrait session, and had lots of fun with each other. It was a pleasure being there for them. We look forward to daughter Ally's Bat Mitzvah at Temple Emanuel this weekend.

Temple Beth David Westminster Bar Mitzvah | Nathaniel

Back in 2006, we visited Temple Beth David in Westminster for the first time, to photography Myles' Bar Mitzvah. This month we returned--it was little brother Nathaniel's turn at the torah--and now he's all grown up!
That's Nathaniel and his dad Steven, pictured above, looking over the torah before the ceremony. Below is the Bar Mitzvah boy and his family.

Nathaniel, who calls himself a "Jewsian,"--is a lot of fun to be around--a real cut-up.
Below, images from his party at the Long Beach Marriott.

Temple Isaiah Bar Mitzvah Photography by Graham & Graham

James Doran was called to the torah at Temple Isaiah in Los Angeles, and we were there to document the service and party. Isaiah is one of our favorite temples in the area, where we did our first paid Bar Mitzvah photography gig in 2003, so we were thrilled to return. The designers of the sanctuary put a lot of thought into presentation--it's really hard to not get great shots there, thanks to the layout.
After the ceremony, we accompanied James and his family into the social hall, for the fun party, which was hosted by DJ Dan and his Party Zone.

Manhattan Beach Family Portraits by Graham & Graham

It was our pleasure to meet with the Gross family on a beautiful Manhattan Beach afternoon, for a family portrait of the extended members of the family. We did the shot on their deck, which overlooks the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and used our Alien Bees lights, to illuminate the family, and be able to pick up the amazing blue sky. Thanks for having us over!

Manhattan Beach American Martyrs Wedding | Yvonne and Kevin

We live on Laurel Avenue, just four blocks from the big American Martyrs church, which dominates the skyline of Manhattan Beach, so it was our extreme pleasure to be hired by Yvonne and Kavin to do the video for their Manhattan Beach wedding at American Martyrs over the weekend.
It was a huge weekend in town, with the Manhattan Beach Open volleyball tournament, so after the wedding, we brought the happy couple to the El Porto beach area of town, just two blocks away from Verandas, the site of their reception.
No problem with thousands of spectators here--the beach belonged to the happy couple.

Manhattan Beach Engagement Portraits | Carrie & Tommy

On a balmy Sunday night in Manhattan Beach, on a day when the sun finally returned for a classic summer afternoon, we met Carrie and Tommy at the Manhattan Beach Pier for their sunset engagement portraits.

Carrie flew all the way out from Iowa for the photo session--she and Tommy are getting hitched in January in Las Vegas (on lucky 7/11 day) at the Mandalay Bay resort. Tommy lives and works in Valencia, where the pair will eventually live.

Manhattan Beach Photographer | Beach Portraits

How do you spell cute? Try A-L-E-X-A-N-D-R-A.

We brought Alexandra to some of our favorite Manhattan Beach locations for a portrait that will be used on her sign-in board for her upcoming Beverly Hills Bat Mitzvah at Temple Emanuel. The "mermaid" shot under the Manhattan Beach Pier is one of our favorites at this iconic location. We showed to a potential client Saturday, and she called "A once in a lifetime picture."
We don't know about that, but we sure love it! For the image, we used one of our favorite new accessories, the Orbis Ringflash, which is an attachment that goes over the flash and brings amazing studio like quality to location work. We used the Orbis on the other two shots here as well.

Orange County Jones Victorian Mansion Wedding | Brandi & Kyran

The Jones Victorian Estate is this wonderful vintage house and property tucked away on a quiet street in Orange. You arrive entering a big gate, travel up a long driveway (locale of some of the best shots here!) and then escape back in time for a setting unlike any we've seen in Southern California.
The wedding ceremony is held behind the house, and afterwards, one lucky bride and groom and photographer get to enter the house, which isn't open to the public. What a memorable backdrop!
We first met Brandi and Kyran back in 2009, and had the good fortune of accompanying them down to the Manhattan Beach Pier for an unforgettable engagement session, highlighted by an amazing dip in the sand. It was fun recreating the dip in the Jones driveway.
